Charity Knit Night

We will no longer be meeting for charity knit night due to low attendance. We are still happy to accept any knitted, crocheted or sewn items that you would like to donate to charity. We will find them homes with many local charities that we sponsor!

Our current projects include putting together the squares we made for Warm Up America blankets (Crocheters-- bring your size K hooks!) and making chemo caps to warm the heads and hearts of women struggling in the fight against breast cancer. You are welcome to use any hat pattern, but if you don't have one in mind you may be able to find one here. As always we have free, donated yarn available for any charity knitting project. Or if you would like to buy yarn from the shop for your project you can recieve 50% of the cost of the yarn back in store credit when you bring your finished project in!

As part of our Chemo Cap project we will have a guest speaker joining us in October to talk about breast cancer from the perspective of a survivor and a nurse. My goal is to have a stack of caps ready to send back to the hospital with her! This special event will be open to everyone and would be a great way to introduce friends and family to our Charity Knitting group and to educate them about breast cancer.

Right now we are working on 7" by 9" blocks out of Lion's Brand Homespun for a Warm Up America blanket. Here is a picture of our progress so far. Thanks to everyone who is helping-- keep those blocks coming!
